Quick tut to help with the friend bug!

If you're needing to remove and add friends to validate them without friending buttons—especially if you have large lists—here's a quick thing that should save you a lot of time if you don't already have a similar method. ♥

Step 1: Go to your profile on whichever account you're working on (and make sure you're signed into the right one.) Highlight and copy the people you have friended.

Step 2: Paste it into Notepad or equivalent, then run a Replace All to change each comma to <br> instead.

Step 3: Stick it in here, preview, and copy your line-broken list.

Step 4: Textmechanic.com!

(You might not actually need to remove them first; if anyone knows for sure, feel free to comment and lmk. Either way, if not, you can just skip this and only do 'friend add' instead!)

Step 5: Paste into the Admin Console.

Step 6: Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to re-add your friends, and you're all done! Six steps sounds like a lot, but this all takes about a minute or two. I hope this helps some of you while we get back into the swing of things!

Had to fix my f-list and I've used this method for other stuff before, so I was like MMMMMAYBE I SHOULD PROB POST THIS LOL. ♥ Glad I can help!

I think will be especially handy because it doesn't rely on add-ons or extensions! ♥ While I'm currently a Waterfox user, as far as I know there doesn't seem to be a Chrome equivalent of Checkfox.

I'm ngl, I went to the friend management page first and did a lot of unchecking, but I had to because a bug friended me to every account that has ever friended me LOL. And then I ran what was left (the accounts I'd actually friended) through these steps.

I don't think that accidental friending is actually valid, but it still shows up and clutters the profile and makes things confusing, so ehhh. (But yeah, something like Checkfox would be great. I'll have to look around and see if there's anything for Chrome!)

ATTN: CHROME USERS

I'll still have to test it, but it seems Chrome has Multicheck!

Don't know why, but this isn't working for me even though it was working yesterday and I've heard some people say it's worked for them.

This method by [info]fjords is different from mine, but you might find an answer on that in its comments; I hope that helps! I know I'm getting some different glitches that only some of my friends are getting too, so yanno. :(

Yeah, I don't know. It was working last night when I coded up a friend remove button for a comm. But it isn't now. Least not for me. But the person who linked me to here said it worked for her. So.... yep, confused, heh.

the Multicheck worked wonders, however.

Hrrrgh, that's too bad man. I know I was doing some stuff yesterday that was working and then suddenly it wasn't, so I think stuff like that's going to be happening a lot with the current bugs.

Which hopefully doesn't drive too many people away.

I think I read something about friend REMOVE not working in the console, so IDK if this was fixed or not, but that could be causing some people some errors doing this method.

I used it to make myself a quick friend ADD list though to get everyone re-friended so yay, thanks for this! This is so much easier than pasting the prefix in front of like 200 lines.

HMMMM, ew weird. I did get some errors that XYZ "wasn't on my friends list" and I couldn't remove them (even though they obviously were), but I went ahead and refreshed the page anyway and stuck in the Friend Add version of list and checked my profile when I was done and it was all in order, so maybe the error is arbitrary? I'm honestly not sure haha.

Goddd, yes. If I can ever mass select and edit all to save time and headaches, I will find a way LMAO. I'm glad this helped!

I also recommend Check All for Firefox and Multicheck for Chrome.

You can just uncheck all your friends, hit save, then recheck and save again.

Whoops you already mentioned this.

Nah, never hurts to have more opinions! I don't actually use Multicheck so I'm glad there's someone here who has more experience with it. :D

You ROCK! Also, I just found This for chrome. You just click the icon in the top right and hit un-check all, SUPER easy!
