CODE BY TESSISAMESS

001: Informative Info
New gif/non-icon based cast list! These are three blocks to a row, one block provided in the codes below, so just copy and paste the inner character block as many times as needed. I've also converted it to work for locations/other non-cast type blocks, as seen above, and below there is also an option for if you only want to use a single block (for OOC contact etc.) Set heights on all versions except the single block; this one can hold as much text as you want. Enjoy! ♥

(You should also follow me on Tumblr if you like THEEEEMES. I'll be taking theme orders over there. ♥ Pardon my dust over there, btw; still tidying up a bit.)
002: The Code

Eeee, ty! ♥ I'd made the cast list, and then I was like "eeeey, you know what, if I took out the links this would be rad for game info blocks."

This is gorgeous and I love it. But quick question - any ideas of how to fix it so it will display in the three block as intended on a mac? When I checked it on my PC in Firefox, it's showing up three in a row, like it does in the static image, but on the mac it shows up with two and a huge gap between, then one below, on both Chrome and Firefox, which makes me think it's a mac thing? (though I could be wrong.)
Sep. 5th, 2015 06:53 am (UTC)
Oh man, I have no clue. I don't use Mac for anything haha. It sounds like a difference in how it's reading margins combined with line breaks, though. What I'd do is try using empty HTML comments to space the blocks out rather than returns:

OUTER DIV

FIRST CHARACTER<!---

--->SECOND CHARACTER<!---

--->THIRD CHARACTER

END OUTER DIV

And so on. Let me know if that works?
Sep. 5th, 2015 06:57 am (UTC)
It doesn't seem to make any difference that I can tell! But thank you for the suggestion.
Sep. 5th, 2015 07:01 am (UTC)
Boooo, yeah I'm not sure since I can't test it. I'd say mess with the outer div's width by adding a few pixels to it and see if that does it.
Sep. 5th, 2015 07:04 am (UTC)
That did it! I should have thought to try that. I am code-dumb. Thank you!
Sep. 5th, 2015 07:05 am (UTC)
No problem! <3
Sep. 15th, 2015 02:39 am (UTC)
I also fixed it by making all the boxes smaller on mine. Sometimes I have to play with the width of outer divs/tables to make things fit right on my Mac vs on a PC, though!

Buuuut, I have another issue. I am using it here and the spacing on the bottom row is different from all of the other rows. Can you tell me what I did/how to fix it? I put my code in a text box for easy access. Thanks in advance!
Sep. 13th, 2015 05:11 am (UTC)
I love these tables but i need your help with two things...A) what size are the pictures supposed to be and B) is there any way to make the blurb box bigger? Thanks
Sep. 13th, 2015 11:51 pm (UTC)
The pictures can be any size (they resize themselves) as long as they're at least 348px wide by 157px high. :3

To add height edit height:93px; to a larger number, and then add the same amount to height:73px; (so if you add 20px to one, add 20px to the other.)
Sep. 13th, 2015 07:41 pm (UTC)
I literally *Just* redid my character tables ...and now I want to redo it with this. I feel like I need to both thank and damn you... lol Awesome code!
Sep. 13th, 2015 11:47 pm (UTC)
[insert evil laugh here] I live to ruin your plans ♥ Glad you like it! :D
Nov. 5th, 2015 02:26 am (UTC)
Is there a way to make the character name a link?
Dec. 7th, 2015 11:31 pm (UTC)
Change in the code where it says character name to:

< a href="LINK" > Character Name< / a >

Remove spaces between the carrots.
Nov. 19th, 2015 02:51 pm (UTC)
Thanks for this and the layout. I've been working on things in this journal and here's what I did with your locations.
Dec. 7th, 2015 11:32 pm (UTC)
TESS I USED MY WRONG JOURNAL BUT ITS ME... :> inrome... and I keep using this code and I love this code
Feb. 14th, 2016 02:35 pm (UTC)
This is gorgeous! But I do need a little help.

1: How do I center the table? I've tried with < center > but it doesn't work.

The code also makes the entry use a horizontal scrollbar; http://skydragons.insanejournal.com/1523.html and I don't know how to fix it. It shouldn't take that much space to the sides.
Jun. 12th, 2016 07:01 am (UTC)
I'm kind of in love with this. ♥
Using it here and here.
Jun. 12th, 2016 07:03 am (UTC)
Heee, tysm! (Stealin' those Beej caps btw. I had my own set on my last comp, but I don't ever feel like digging my old movie cap folders off my other external lmfao.)
Jun. 12th, 2016 07:15 am (UTC)
You're so very welcome! (And go right ahead! The post is f-locked, but I did open membership so I don't get an annoying email every time someone wants to join, lol.)
Jun. 12th, 2016 07:18 am (UTC)
Yasss, perfect. These caps look super good, btw.
Jun. 12th, 2016 07:23 am (UTC)
D'aw, thank you bb. ♥ I think I took those with Virtual Dub wayyyy back when. I have more caps to post, but I'll get around to it tomorrow.
Jun. 12th, 2016 07:25 am (UTC)
I can't wait to see what you put up! <3
Aug. 22nd, 2016 08:58 am (UTC)
As always, I love your layouts. :3 (This is [info]amelioration, if you remember me. XD)

At the risk of sounding completely coding incompetent - what size are the image boxes? Because while I realise it cuts bigger pictures into size, I couldn't figure out what the smallest measurements are. Last night (when I did this thing that's not nearly finished, image-wise) it seemed like some pictures which were 500px weren't big enough but some were just fine?

I was really tired last night. I just wanna make proper banners. ._.
Aug. 22nd, 2016 01:53 pm (UTC)
I think I figured it out! 350x170, amiright? :3
Jun. 18th, 2017 06:32 pm (UTC)
Hi! I used your code @ http://ravynsmusebox.dreamwidth.org/61245.html for my roster, and in Chrome, it looks like this while in Firefox it's normal. I recently updated Chrome to version 59, so maybe that's it. as the only fiddling I've done recently was to fix a typo and remove a game from a dropped character's box.

I also stuck the code I used on paste bin: here
Jun. 23rd, 2017 10:03 pm (UTC)
Seconding this. We use your beautiful code for our game, and it's gone crazy with the newest version of Chrome. Any idea how to implement a fix?
Jun. 23rd, 2017 10:08 pm (UTC)
That's very strange; both codes are staying in line on my browser (I use Chrome by default too and I made sure mine is the current version while checking) so I'm not entirely sure what the problem could be.

The best I can offer since I'm not experiencing this bug is to try setting a larger width for width:1080px and see if it straightens everything out.
Jun. 23rd, 2017 10:47 pm (UTC)
You're a goddess. I changed it to 1090px, problem solved.

When you run a sale the next time, we're totally joining your client list!!
Jun. 23rd, 2017 10:49 pm (UTC)
Aw good, I'm glad that worked! <3

Hee, tysm! Stay tuned for some layout-related announcements next week. :D

I meant to come back to this with the fix I figured out which was yeah, making it 1081 instead of 1080 which made it look correct.
Jun. 30th, 2017 02:30 pm (UTC)
Wow, thanks so much! I was wracking my brain trying to figure out how I suddenly broke the code. This helped!
