001: Informative Info
Took a tiny break between working through my sale layouts and made you guys a thing! I saw this cute ass DW navigation code and liked the visual, so I decided to make my own version in a layout. This layout features a five picture CSS slideshow (oooh, ahhh), bit I've also made a single-image option that you can view over at ~tess017a. Enjoy! <3
002: The Layout

003: Directions
→Make sure you have a website in your profile page.
→Go to Basics and choose S1, then save.
→Go to Look and Feel, choose Generator for all views, then save.
→Go to Custom Options and paste the layout code, then save. Make sure you've done a replace all on the following:
IMAGE1 through IMAGE5; images must be 250x450 and you must have five.

IMAGE HERE; image must be 250x450.
→All done! :D

PLEASE NOTE: The slideshow only supports five pictures; no more and no less. I could do edits but, honestly, it's really math-involved and I'm not so great with the numbers, so I do ask that y'all don't ask for edits to the picture amount. Never fear! There is another way to get more/less than five pictures in the slideshow, and I'm gonna show you how to do it!
→Install static version of layout.
→Download PhotoScape (Don't worry; it's free!)
→Follow this super quick tutorial I made just for you guys!
→And lmk in the comments if you guys want a tutorial on how to make regular gifs using this program and VLC!
004: CTRL+F This Shit

005: Rules and Shit
→Credit me either in your link list or your profile.
→Do not remove my credit from the CSS.
→Do not redistribute in part or in whole.
→If you break something during editing don't be scared to ask me to see what happened. Yep. That's a rule.
→If you're a maker like I am and you do something cool with this I'd really like to see it, but it's not necessary.

May. 20th, 2014 03:45 pm (UTC)
Sure can!

I use all of your layouts for all of my journals. :) But for this journal, I combined both of your layouts using slideshow meets embiggen.

Thank you for making such beautiful layouts and other goodies. <3

I tweaked it a little for here (changed colors; added a background image). Your credit is there, and I put one in the journal profile.

Tweaked it quite a bit but nothing earthshatteringly amazing as he original code. Credit of course left in tact.

Rocket Raccoon is using this layout, yup. Tweaked some colors.

I actually am here for some help. :( I tweaked the layout here ([info]marvelprepmod) and it looks great . . . so long as you don't use the navigation strip. :/ Otherwise it looks like this. I can send you the code if you want, but any of my players that use the navstrip are left in frustration. Please help!
Oct. 20th, 2014 07:39 pm (UTC)
Hey, that looks pretty awesome! :D Nice work.

Okay, so, in the code you're gonna wanna change top:20px; to... hm, probably about top:45px; (may need some adjusting) and then you're gonna wanna go to the body and also add that extra 25px (or however much you end up needing, but I think 25px should do it) to padding:160px 0 10px 0;.

That should fix everything up for you! <3

Thank you! It was a great code to work from.

Tried and it still doesn't make a difference with the navstrip. Do you want me to send you the code? :/
Oct. 20th, 2014 08:34 pm (UTC)
Hmm, that's super weird. I actually wasn't aware anyone used the navstrip function, so I've never had to work with it before. How about this: Have the player who uses the navstrip send you the entire page source (right click the comm and hit view page source, then copy it into notepad and save it as a .txt) and then send it my way (tessisabiiitch @ gmail . com); maybe I'll be able to suss out what's wrong by looking at the exact page they're seeing.

Will do! Thanks so much, you're the best!

Using the static one here, made slight color changes :) thank you so much!

I'm in love with this layout and using the static version here, but I'm having a small problem with the display on entries. Specifically, something in the layout is overriding styling within entries. So, for instance, journal view shows this; entry view shows properly. I would just work around it, but it happens on the FP view as well. I actually had the same problem with Cerchio. I've tinkered with the colors/fonts/background image, but otherwise haven't changed anything. Any help you could offer would be amazing

If that's my profile code, that's what's doing it. But it would be an issue with any S1 Generator layout if that's the case and, sadly, there's no fix other than not using Generator. Which is so lame. :(

What it is, is anything table-based in an entry is gonna conflict with Generator, because poor poor Generator is made up of about a metric fuckton of nested tables, which really shows its age, because that's a big no-no these days. So basically anything you use to style entries in the CSS is gonna carry into any tables in your entries.

It won't fix what other people post, but check the bottom of the comments on that specific profile code in my journal and you'll find a div-only version that'll play nice with Generator. :3

Thanks much for the heads up!

Hiya! LOVE your layouts, and am using the static version of this for a comm.

Quick question - is there a way to get rid of the poster info in entries? I have worked out how to get rid of icons, but wanted to hide the element completely. I can only find tutorials online how to do it in bloggish, so am a bit daft when it comes to generator.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the gorgeous layouts!!

I was needing a new layout for this character, as the last one went screwy thanks to a chrome update, and found this one of your's and omg perfect.

Added a background image and changed the accent colour - to fit a Hufflepuffish theme.

On the FP is there a way to totally centralise the username/community name under the icon? And so it also doesn't have that weird gap at the beginning of a poster's username if it's an entry made in a community?

Thanks for making such awesome layouts!

So I'm like...awful at layouts. Terrible. Deeply afraid of trying them. But your instructions were SO easy to follow that I used this layout for this journal and I'm happy with it. Thank you so much!
Jun. 24th, 2015 02:05 pm (UTC)
Awww, yay! ♥ I'm so happy to hear that. :D Glad you like it!
Jul. 6th, 2015 04:20 pm (UTC)
okay so I've tried everything i could possibly think of, but I still can't get the username/comm links to both be centred under the icon on the friends page view of [info]sagepuff. tried google and w3, but still can't seem to find a solution.... and i really want to use it for another character of mine, but that part of the layout keeps annoying me.

was wondering if you could please tell me how do i get it so that it's all centred under the icon (particularly when it's a post from a comm)? and whether it's possible to get slightly more padding between the icon part and the main text of the entry?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Using it for this journal. Thank you!
