Hey there, I'm Tess!

Please Note:

I do not offer assistance with any sites other than IJ and DW unless it is for general HTML and CSS (ie. custom hosted pages and similar.) I cannot convert a code to a new site's rules because there are a lot of niche RP sites, and I have no way of knowing each one's limitations and caveats. Sorry about that!

Helloooo. I love this. But I was wondering, is there a relatively simple way to make the entries a little wider? Essentially, I'd like the whole white table just a smidge wider and I don't want to mess too much up! :)

Sure is! :)

Change the following with new widths:

#backing{width:505px;margin:0;left:465px;top:0;bottom:0;position:fixed;z-index:99;background:#fff;-webkit-box-shadow:0 0 3px 2px #888;box-shadow:0 0 3px 2px #888;}

and

table{width:495px;margin-left:470px;margin-right:100%;position:relative;z-index:100;}

So if you add 50px to 505px then you need to add 50px to 495px as well, making them 555px and 545px respectively, but you can change them to any width as long as you add the same amount of px to both.

Hi! Long shot, but I love this layout - would you have any idea how to translate this to a dreamwidth layout? Or, lol, where to find the Core/S1 base layouts that IJ uses?
Jan. 19th, 2016 02:38 am (UTC)
I've never done any coding over there, so I'm honestly not sure. I'm so sorry! One day I will get around to playing around on DW so I can answer questions like these, haha. Sorry I wasn't more help!
Jan. 19th, 2016 02:40 am (UTC)
Haha, totally okay! I'm scouring google now to see if anyone bothered to compile the base layers on IJ, keeping my fingers crossed so I can use this over there. All your work is great, I'm really glad I stumbled on your journal! :D
Jan. 19th, 2016 02:42 am (UTC)
Thank you so much! I know we have a comm that compiles LJ's theme layers for paid accounts to use, but I don't think I've seen it for our theme layers. Let me know if you find anything!
Jan. 19th, 2016 02:44 am (UTC)
Actually, I just stumbled on this - there's a link to the Source Code right at the top, and DW let me compile it as Generator, so....we'll see how this translates! :D
Jan. 19th, 2016 03:13 am (UTC)
Oh wonderful! :D Do let me know if it works so that I can direct other DW users to this the next time I get this question!
Jan. 19th, 2016 03:24 am (UTC)
Not going as swimmingly as I'd have liked (this is the journal I'm trying to use it for), but I'm trying to see if it's a fixable problem. I don't actually recognize some of the CSS you used - this is the first time I've seen span class and div tags like this, I think - but if I sort it out, I'll be sure to let you know! o/
Jan. 21st, 2016 05:01 am (UTC)
Turns out the code is inherently incompatible. :c There's some detail here, but basically DW doesn't use the S1 system, and someone suggested this code uses and S1 hack that embeds extra HTML that DW just can't recognize. Rewriting it might work, but I wanted to check with you before I start poking at that possibility, since this is your design and I don't want to step on your toes in any way. I totally understand if you'd rather I not try to recreate it on another website (I would obviously credit you for the layout) - you have a ton of other resources that I've really been enjoying either way! :D
Jan. 21st, 2016 11:22 am (UTC)
You certainly can! Just toss credit in alongside your own credit so people can find my IJ stuff and it's all good! :D Definitely let me know how it goes (unless you're sick of wandering over here lmfao.)
Jan. 22nd, 2016 12:34 am (UTC)
Hahah, never! This is a great resource, you guys make some fancy stuff on IJ. :D Thanks for your help! If this doesn't crash and burn I'll let you know lmao.

Thanks for sharing. I'm using it for the following journal, [info]multi_pslooc

It's simple & cute. Thank you, Ms. Tess <3 Will credit as usual :D

I love the layout! But I seem to be having an issue. A couple of days ago the full layout showed up just fine, but now parts of it are not showing on my journal. I tried C&ping the original base code to see if it was one of my alterations that might have messed things up, but I had the same problem. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you so much!
Jun. 15th, 2017 03:00 pm (UTC)
Thank you! <3 You're just missing the website from your profile is all. Hope that helps!
Jun. 15th, 2017 03:06 pm (UTC)
well that was embarrassingly simple! Thank you :)
Jun. 15th, 2017 03:08 pm (UTC)
Hahaha, we've all been there, trust me. You're welcome!
